PF Station
Welcome to Protectors Of Freedom Station!
The Protectors Of Freedom began as Star Wars Galaxies guild located on the Ahazi Galaxy, founded by "Lukester". Every good gamers guild needs a website, and PFStation.com was created, and funded entirely by OmegaRadium.
Since the New Game Enhancements of SWG, many of us have moved onto various other projects including FFXI, WoW, The Matrix Online, and many other "offline" games.
The Protectors Of Freedom (PF) are now a small group of tightly knit dedicated gamers who come here to enjoy discussing various topics among friends. This is their online home away from home. Make yourself comfortable, and welcome to PFStation!

Omegaradium writes "As a former member of the Star Wars Galaxies community, I was
surprised to hear that one of our own has taken his life; Former Star
Wars Galaxies Lead Gameplay Designer Jeff Freeman (39) is now one with The Force.
In the begining, Jeff’s work on Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire
Divided was celebrated among many fans, especially those who choose the
‘Creature Handler’ profession within the game. A profession which
former Senior Producer of Star Wars Galaxies John Donham says Jeff devoted extra time on, during the weekend to prevent the class from being cut at launch.
However, In November 2005, through a post on his personnal blog, Jeff became known as the man responsible for Star Wars Galaxies’ New Game Enhancements,
which alienated a large mass of the existing player base, and in turn
Jeff was seen as the “bad guy” in this whole ordeal. Although he
wasn’t the single handed mastermind behind the NGE, the
faceless enemy suddenly had a name and a face, and the alienated
players began to voice their disgust and anger. The Escapist wrote a
brief piece on how Jeff handled the situation here.
Although Jeff is quoted by The Escapist as saying, “Because I spent almost six years working on SWG,
and it kills me that the only people who liked it, hate me. Frequently
for misinformed reasons,” a member of his family has stated that SWG
and its disgruntled players played no role in Jeff’s suicide.
I myself was one of those players who, years ago, cast the blame upon Jeff and a few others at SOE for what happened to SWG,
but never to the point of harassing him personally via message boards,
e-mails, or even in person. Afterall, it was just a game! If
anything, his role ,big or small, in the development/implementation the
NGE into SWG actually allowed me to break free from
my addiction to that game, and for that I am truly thankfull. I spent
many great hours enjoying the fruit of Jeff’s labor on SWG, and I know he will be missed by all.
I wish his family my condolences "

| Gaming Season is Upon Us! |
|
September marks the beginning of the 'gaming season', as the year's most anticipated games will begin hitting store shelves. The
number of games released will progressively grown from here on out,
until they hit full speed during the holiday season. Its a great time
to be an employed gamer, and a horrible time to be a game reviewer.
The majority of this weeks most notable releases are for PC, who says PC gaming is dead? Crysis:Warhead
and The Witcher: Enhanced Edition will be on store shelves Sept. 16th,
and the much anticipated Warhammer Online will be available come
Thursday Sept. 17th.
Crysis:Warhead is a continuation of the
Crysis story, but not a true sequel. Warhead places you in the role of
'Psycho', and has you closely follow the events taking place during the
first Crysis from his perspective. Psycho split off during the course
of the first game, allowing him to have his own adventures on the
frozen island. The game engine has also been optimized to achieve
acceptable performance levels on older systems, which was a big entry
barrier for the first Crysis.
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition is a
polished up version of The Witcher with plenty of engine tweaks for
performance, patches, and new quests. For those of us holding out for
the Enhanced Edition, relax! This time its definitely making the ship
date!
Warhammer Online:Age of Reckoning is being touted as the
next great fantasy MMO on the scene. Over a million people attempted
to enter the beta, which shows lots of promise. I plan on checking it
out sooner rather than later.
Last but not least comes Star
Wars:The Force Unleashed on a variety of platforms.
(360,PS3,Wii,PSP,DS) TFU puts you in control of Lord Vader's new Sith
apprentice 'Starkiller.' As the apprentice, Vader tasks you with
eliminating the remenant Jedi hiding throughout the galaxy, which leads
Starkiller on a quest which is suppose to fill in many of the gaps
between Episode 3 and 4. I hear the story alone makes this a must buy
for any Star Wars fan!

Even though its been a few years since the final film of the Star Wars Saga was released, us Star Wars fans still have plenty to look forward to in the coming months!
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is set for a thatrical debut in US theatres Aug 15,2008. The Clone Wars is a spiritual successor to the animated shorts that debuted shortly before the release of "Revenge of the Sith."
Its continues to tell the tale of Anakin Skywalker, who has now taken on an apprentice, as he fights his way across the galaxy leading his clone battallion to victory. The creators of the Clone Wars has assured us that it won't simply be another lightsaber focused movie, but instead it will take viewers into the personnal lives of the clones as they explore their individuality and their personas begin to take shape. This is promised to be a grittier look at Star Wars from the eyes of a Clone Trooper...a Star Wars war movie if you will.
A month or so after the Clone Wars debut, Lucas Art's latest Star Wars game will be released. 'Star Wars: The Force Unleashed' is a game set during the time between Episode III and Episode IV, as Darth Vader and Palpatine tie up the loose ends of their plans and finish disposing of the remaining Jedi in hiding.
During a routine mission to destroy yet another Jedi in hiding, Darth Vader encounters a young boy whos mastery over the force amazed even himself. Vader sees this boy as key to overthrowing the Emperor, and secretly takes him as his apprentice of the Dark Side. Years later, you take control of this apprentice and his unbelievable force powers...
Also, 'Soul Caliber 4' is in stores now, and features three Star Wars characters! Darth Vader, Master Yoda, and Vader's apprentice from 'The Force Unleashed.' These three force users take their lightsabers head to head against some of histories most able warriors.
Its a great time to be a Star Wars fan, thats for sure!

| What Happened To SWG in 2007? |
|
I admit, I sometimes miss playing Star Wars Galaxies. I enjoy reminising about the glory days of the Protectors of Freedom and Kimogila,Lok.
I had a chance to briefly sit down and chat with the Community Relations team for SWG.
The enthusiasm they all shared for their work on SWG, spiked my curiosity as to what exactly has been going on in the game during my absense. So I began to look deeper...
I stumbled across a video created by SWG players for the SOE Austin team to present at a Sony meeting in order to display their accomplishments over the last year.
The video was created by members of a very active guild on the Sunrunner server, and does a great job summing up all the new updates that came about to SWG during this last year alone. From what I've read, the SWG team was the only team to use a 'fan made' video to showcase their games progress, and it couldn't have gone any better.
If you are interested, the link to the video is below.

Hello Everyone!!
I almost missed it, I almost forgot, but I'm pleased to announce that PFStation.com has just turned 2-Years Old!! Thats right, its been two years since we started this online community as a place for members of PFStation to gather outside of Star Wars Galaxies.
The site was created in total secrecy, mostly as a school project, but when news of the New Game Enhancements was released, many SWG players began a mass exodus. It was then that I decided to launch the unfinished site so our guild could stay intact and in contact should any of us decide to leave.
Since then, you guys have kept the site going and helped me learn the ins & outs of managing a small, tightly knit online gaming community. I want to thank everyone for being a part of this great community and hope to see this place continue to thrive in our little corner of the internet!

| GameSpot Editor Fired Over Low Review Score! |
|
Omegaradium writes "Several weeks have gone by since the 'Gurstmann Gate' incident at CNet/Gamespot.com, and although the complete truth has yet to be told, most people have come to realise that it probably never will be.
Multiple 'credible' game related websites posted all kinds of headlines and crazy stories about this incident, all of which were mostly based on rumors and speculation. I myself believed the 'tinfoil hat' story, but have realized that whats done is done.
But whatever the case maybe, Gamespot.com editors have come together and given Jeff a proper send-off, and have addressed many of the issues the community brought up. I'm looking forward to seeing Gamespot pickup right where it left off.
To Jeff: Good luck out there man! "

| New additions and projects! |
|
hey everyone just a few updates...
1. I will be mailing to Omega a World of Warcraft Banner to use on this site for those of you that want a new look and play WoW.
2. There are a few new projects being developed in the forums... go to the "In Development" area for more information and help out by giving your information! At the moment there is ideas for a -PF- Comic and a flash animation and hopefully (eventually) I will find some talent in drawing sprites or find someone who has some to make a videogame.
3. For those of you who were wondering I DID finish the ranking system... but a lot of you wont be getting up the ranks for a while I think anyhow. If I wasn't automatically the guild master I wouldn't even be to the half way point yet and I have the most posts on this website. @_@ Will give those who aren't elders something to sorta have fun with as they go up the website ranks... and I figured I would just do it in my spare time so get off my back. :P
4. This really isnt' important but my Xbox Live gold membership expired... so I wont be able to play any games online or anything for a while (not like I could play much...) till I get cash to buy that bundlepack I saw at Wal-mart... I know that wasn't exactly important but I figured I would mention that I'm only gonna be sending you guys txt messages for a while. :P
5. Zikran and Epoa are back!~ welcome them back in the "introduce yourself" section.
6. I made a new poll about what projects you guys would like to see completed just now... go vote for what you would like to see the most happen!
I would like to say though that some of those ideas would take longer to do then others or some of those ideas may not even be possible without a lot of help from you guys... So show your support in the "In development" area if your interested in these happening!
Thats all for now... <_<;

A few of us at this point all have Xbox or Xbox 360s so Omega recently posted a topic in the "General Gaming" section with the title of "Xbox Live! Gamertags" so we can all go there to post our gamertags and add eachother to friend lists... Go to that topic for more details!
Hope to see you all in Live. ;)
And in other news Omega is still working on new themes and looks for the website... more at 11 *insert crappy dramatic news music*

Hey everyone,
I have been sorta going through the website and updating a few things that I figure probably needed updating, such as changing the "Elder Scrolls: Oblivion" Forum to just a General Gaming Forum and updating some text here and there around the website.
I am also updating and changing a bit of the ranking system to include more ranks (just for fun) as well as changing the current names slightly and POSSIBLY giving some selected cool-headed elders to take moderator powers (To a small extent) to keep the peace around here. After we get set up for the Emu we will probably be getting a lot more members in here so giving out one or two more moderator powers MIGHT be needed.
Just thought I would give you guys all a heads up... If something is wrong with the ranks then let me know and Ill fix em... atm they will probably be under construction for a while.
